Peter and the Wolf – Prokofiev, Carnival of Animals - Saint-Saens and The Story of Babar The Little Elephant - Poluenc
By David Coram (organ), David Owen Norris (piano), narrated by Richard Briers
Richard Briers narrates Peter and the Wolf, the children’s classic composed by Sergei Prokofiev. The music has been cleverly given a new twist on the organ by David Coram (playing the organ of Romsey Abbey, Hampshire), who demonstrates how it can effectively be used to reproduce a wide range of orchestral instruments, such as the horn, oboe and clarinet. As Richard Briers narrates the story with words, the music provides the perfect illustration of the action.
In addition to Peter and the Wolf, two other children’s pieces are brought to life – Carnival of Animals and Babar The Little Elephant – featuring David Coram on the organ, David Owen Norris on the piano and more wonderful narration. The CD is perfect for families to enjoy together, either listening at home or when travelling in the car.
