illiam White, who has undertaken a number of cross-country ‘fun runs’ in the past, has this year chosen to organise a gruelling challenge to mark his 29th birthday – and he’ll be seeking sponsorship instead of presents!
Both William and Ian, who met whilst studying at King Alfred’s College, will commence their journey with a 750m swim before taking to the roads of Winchester on a 20k cycle, and will then head towards Sutton Scotney, the home of Naomi House, where they will finish up with an exhausting 5km jog. And to top it all off – they’ll be cycling all the way home again.
William said, “We are both very excited about taking on such a tough challenge, and are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile and local cause. We hope to raise lots of money for the children and young people at Naomi House and Jacksplace.”
Naomi House and Jacksplace hospices are based in Sutton Scotney, just outside of Winchester, and provide respite, end of life, hospice at home and bereavement care to life-limited children, young adults and their families from across the South.
Each year, approximately £5 million is needed in order continue providing these vital services free of charge.
Natalie Hargreaves, Naomi House fundraising co-ordinator, said, “It is amazing the lengths people are prepared to go to support us. We are so grateful to William and Ian for all the hard work and determination that I know will go into completing such a tough challenge and we wish them both well on their journey’’.
