indoor winter gloom and been out and about right across the county to
bring you fantastic family friendly walks! From the Test Valley to the
South Downs and the Solent to the New Forest, we have discovered some
of the county’s finest places to stretch your legs and catch a fine

possible but ten times more fun than it used to be! We’ve got three
fine walks for all fitness levels, from a jolly jaunt right up to a

Joanne Robinson, mother of three and lover of life under canvas, brings you everything you need to know about camping with tots. Are you looking at the very word camping and wincing? Are you, despite
Boden catalogue images of frolicking in the great outdoors with the
children, actually more of a boutique hotel and crisp white towels kind
of gal? Does the thought of camping, in short, leave you in a cold
sweat of terror? Fret not! The kids will love it, it’s cheap as chips
and, once you’re sitting outside your tent with a chilled glass of
chardonnay you’ll be totally converted. Camping has had a big comeback
in recent years and with little ones in tow it really is a fantastic
way to holiday on a shoestring budget.

The Countyside Education Trust
|
|
Written by David Edwards
|
The Countryside Education Trust in Beaulieu offers a great range of
countryside activities for parents and children throughout the year.
Baby Hampshire’s David Edwards has been along to see what’s on offer. I am not sure exactly what my one-year old granddaughter made of all
the animals at the Countryside Education Trust, but we had a great
time. The animals came in so many different shapes and sizes and she
was fascinated by them all! The hatching chicks were a big favourite, perhaps because it was not so
very long since she came blinking into the world herself.

well-maintained and accessible – time it right and you might even find
a surprising range of events and activities on offer. But make sure you
check the weather forecast before venturing out! Manor Farm Country Park

400 peaceful acres on the banks of the Hamble at Bursledon, near Southampton.Pick the right weather and it’s a lovely spot for a family day out, with a mixture of woodland, riverside and open space, perfect for little ones who like to run about. The Venture photography studio in Winchester has changed hands. Baby
Hampshire has been along to meet new owner, Andy Lakin, and find out
what makes him tick “Anything goes.” Andy Lakin is describing a typical shoot at Venture
Photography in Winchester. “We’ve had a canoe, skis, bikes, lizards,
tents, dogs and cats in the studio.”Venture pride themselves on bringing as much of their clients’ personal
expression as possible into each session and sometimes that means
including their personal possessions too – from pets to musical
instruments. Andy has clearly decided not to heed the ancient adage
never to work with animals or children.

The Childrens Furniture Company

Written by Helen Holmes

Helen Holmes has been along to meet Sarah Codrington, founder of the
children’s furniture company, to chat about beds, paint colours and,
er, go-karting. From the from the window of her Victorian townhouse, in a bohemian
corner of Brixton, South London, Sarah Codrington waves madly. She’d
forgotten to mention that there’s no house number on their front door
and she’s spotted me wandering around in the street looking confused.

Our first Baby Hampshire entrepreneur story is one of a former
Winchester couple Jane and Paul Hillary. Their daughter Tristana, mum
to their grandchild Florence, also plays an important role in the
success of their booming, family run business. Having had their granddaughter to stay for a few days before they went
to Cape Cod on holiday, Jane and Paul discovered that an easy way to
comfort Florence and help her go peacefully off to sleep was to allow
her to suck on the corner or label of her muslin cloth. Like many babies Florence was fascinated by labels, even on the corner or label of her muslin cloth. Like many babies Florence was

On the arrival of her third child, Georgina, Alison Nye realised that
whilst there seemed to be a huge amount of clothing available for
children, there was little choice for parents who want their children
to look like children rather than mini adults. Alison’s parents have
retired to Spain, and when visiting them she noticed that not only was
the relaxed Spanish attitude towards raising their children attractive,
but also the quality and style of their children’s clothing. And so Poco Ropa (‘Little Clothes’) was born, importing and selling
Spanish children’s clothes to
