Norman Court Preparatory School, West Tytherley

Norman Court Preparatory School, West Tytherley
Norman Court Preparatory School on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border is a co-educational boarding preparatory school that has been giving children the best possible start in life for more than 125 years. The historic main school building is surrounded by 50 acres of sports fields and beautiful woodland countryside and offers unrivalled opportunities for children to work and play in a healthy and secure environment.

The school is innovative and forward looking in its attitude, yet rooted in the best of the traditional values. There is a good mix of boarding and day pupils, with around one-third of the children in the Main School enjoying boarding. The broad curriculum combines the core subjects of English, mathematics and science, with history, geography, religious studies, art, music, drama and PE. There is also excellent provision for European languages and information technology, which are seen as essential skills in the modern community.

In the Pre-prep Department children, aged three to seven years, will also participate in “Forest School” lessons, a unique educational experience that is quite literally a breath of fresh air. The idea of a classroom without walls was brought to Britain 10 years ago and has over the last year become a valuable mode of learning for Norman Court Preparatory School. The Forest School philosophy is to encourage and inspire individuals of all ages and abilities through the mastering of small, achievable tasks in the woodland environment that is part of the school’s 50 acre estate. The aim is to develop confidence and independence so that children have a better sense of self-worth.
