Pure and Gentle Skin Care

Dermatitis and Ecezma are distressing conditions for adults, so when your baby or toddler suffers, it is a continual cycle of itching and scratching and they are too little to understand that they must not scratch. The skin reddens and bleeds and eventually it may become infected, but still they scratch!

For parents, the problem eats away at the heart of the family as you constantly pay attention to your child’s skin and suffering many sleepless nights as your baby cries and cries. You are constantly applying creams and ointments and trips to the doctors.

According to The National Eczema Society as many as one in twelve adults and one in five children suffer from eczema. This common condition is made worse by the chemical cocktail of preservatives, fragrances and harsh emulsifying agents in many modern skincare products. In response to the growing need for a product range for people with eczema, sensitive skin, allergic skin, psoriasis & acne in mind Pure and Gentle SkinCare was created by the Founder of TalkHealth, Deborah Mason, a company established since 2000, which consists of a group of support and information web sites covering various health indications, and in association with Lisa Clunie. The first web site www.talkeczema.com was launched in October 2000. The site was created by Deborah Mason from her own personal experience of eczema. The TalkEczema web site is now one of the leading support and information sites globally.

Our products contain a high percentage of natural and active ingredients, and many are free from the most common skin irritants. Pure and Gentle.com is an on-line shop which provides a wide range of skincare products for men, women, teenagers, children and babies who are trying to cope with the day today misery of eczema, psoriasis, acne, sensitive and allergic skin. This unique website not only offers detailed descriptions of each product with directions for use but a comprehensive ingredients list for every single product. So customers know what is in each and every product before they make their purchase.

We research the products carefully making sure that products contain NO synthetic additives, preservatives, or petrochemicals where possible and are free from of the known skin irritants.
Pure and Gentle SkinCare LLP was founded by Deborah Mason and Lisa Clunie, they share a common skin problem - eczema - luckily only mildly.

Deborah's was mainly contact induced, but her maininspiration for wanting to set up the Pure and Gentle Skincare came from her daughter Alice who, at 5 months old, developed severe atopic eczema. With the help and support of family and friends, the advice and treatment provided by health professionals and others, and an enormous amount of time seeking out suitable products, Alice, now aged 8, has skin that is now under control.

While Deborah had problems with Alice, Lisa on the other hand has very sensitive skin on her face. Many facial products would aggravate her skin bringing her eczema up in patches. Certain creams would cause an instant, adverse reaction and even some make-up would cause irritation. From when Lisa was a teenager until now, she has to use non-perfumed products; she often gains confidence in a product and then the manufacturer changes an ingredient without drawing attention to this on the packaging, and a reaction happens. Now her eldest daughter, Rebecca aged 11, is also reacting to certain soaps and skincare products too. Hence Pure and Gentle Skincare was launched.

All our products contain a high level of natural and active ingredients but are not always organic! We have found that just because the product is labelled ‘organic’ it may not be telling the whole truth. Unlike food, organic skincare products do not have to match the stringent codes of organic guidelines. Many manufacturers may have included a tiny percentage of organic ingredients to their products, but according to Trading Standards at present there are no regulations on the percentage of organic ingredients to classify the product being labelled as ‘Organic’. The Soil Association are hoping that this will change soon so that people will know what they are getting in their skincare products as well as their weekly shopping basket.

So at Pure and Gentle SkinCare we research the product thoroughly to ensure it has both natural ingredients and healing benefits. There is a specialist on board to answer patient questions and queries about some of the products, they are there to help customers and pass on new product information. At Pure and Gentle SkinCare the customer service is impeccable, with many customers coming back again and again. We are constantly looking at new research and products on the market and we build relationships with our suppliers and customers with feedback and queries.

Our products include DermaSilk a range of therapautic clothing range which helps reduce the itching and scratching associated with eczema and promotes healing. It allows the skin to breathe, regulating skin temperature and maintaining the skin’s moisture balance and helps control bacteria and fungi that cause infected skin conditions.

For moisturising we sell DermaSalve which is the first ever moisturising cream range that is free of all known irritants. It is light to touch, rapidly absorbed into the skin and so leaves no greasy residue. This product is being promoted and backed by The Bounty Group and also Doctor Chris Steel from This Morning is a great believer in this product.
